Bottled in 2025 by Decadent Drinks for Whisky Auctioneer to commemorate the launch of their new website. This 15 year old blended malt was produced from various single malts and bottled at 52.7%. Just 250 bottles were released, with the initial run auctioned for charity.
Nose
Palate
The palate opens with coffee Revels, orange juice, cloves, cinnamon, burnt brown sugar, a hint of peat, and toffee. These notes are joined by a peppery spice on the medium length finish. Although that spice outlasts the sweeter notes, alongside a touch of ash. The mouthfeel is solid.
Nose (with water)
Water intensifies the more synthetic sweet notes on the nose, pushing the fruit into the background. We are now also getting tobacco, Turkish Delight, and a touch of limeade. The spice remains in balance. Charred wood also appears, bringing a little more of the smoke to the fore.
Palate (with water)
Water dampens the spice and brings out notes of Seville oranges. While it is not quite as sweet, there is still plenty of caramel and similar confectionery notes to enjoy. The mouthfeel remains solid and the finish stays medium in length. The peat has shifted towards a more ashy style.
Conclusion
Some very expected sherry notes mix with a few more interesting ones, creating a little extra complexity and resulting in a very solid blend that has plenty to offer on both the nose and palate.
Score: 7/10
