We're looking at a couple of releases from the Cadenheads March 2026 Authentic Collection.
Cadenheads Jura 16yo Authentic Collection March 2026
Region: Highlands
ABV: 58.9%
Price: £80.00
Distilled in 2009 and finished in a Manzanilla hogshead, this Jura was bottled in March 2026 for Cadenhead’s Authentic Collection. Outturn of 306 bottles .
Nose
The nose opens with vanilla custard and fudge, alongside a touch of yeast, like freshly baked bread rolls. There is brown sugar, grapefruit, and singed orange peel, with a slightly foosty edge. A gentle ginger spice sits in the background, though it is mild considering the ABV. With air we also find Caramac, a hint of milk chocolate, and a note of orange Fanta.
Palate
The palate opens with plain rice crackers, caramel sauce, and a ginger spice that fades quickly. The mid-palate brings orange Fanta, aniseed, and a warm plastic note, reminding us a little of Paul John. A roasted coffee bitterness appears on the medium length finish along with just a touch of spice. The mouthfeel is okay.
Nose (with water)
Water brings out more caramel, along with treacle, dark chocolate, and burnt brown sugar. That yeasty note is reduced. We also find wood shavings and an initial hint of beef gravy that quickly fades. It’s a very citric now and is more pleasant to nose. The alcohol spice is still in good balance.
Palate (with water)
The mouthfeel is reduced with water and comes across a little thin, with slightly more spice on the finish. The finish remains medium in length. The plastic note and that Paul John character have disappeared. We are now getting more ginger and citrus, along with a more noticeable sherry influence.
Conclusion
Personally, we prefer this with water, as the improvements are worth the trade-offs. It is not an offensive dram, but it is nothing particularly memorable either.
Score: 6/10
Value
Not our favourite dram, but we definitely can’t complain about the price.
Cadenhead Kilkerran 10yo Authentic Collection March 2026
Region: Campbeltown
ABV: 56.4%
Price: £80.00
Distilled in 2016 and fully matured in a bourbon barrel, this single cask Kilkerran was bottled in March 2026 Cadenhead’s Authentic Collection. Outturn of 240 bottles.
Nose
The nose opens with chlorine, burnt wood, peanuts, and wet cardboard. There is also little pepper, along with a note reminding us of Cif lemon cleaner. With patience we also find vanilla essence, and a slightly swampy aroma, along side shortbread, and hessian cloth. That pepper spice hints at the ABV, but overall the alcohol is well integrated.
Palate
The palate initially mirrors the nose, with a slightly foosty edge. Gingerbread and icing sugar appear mid palate alongside notes of Play-Doh and plasticine. Theres a fair amount of spice on the finish, alongside a hint of burnt wood and a swampy, citric note. The mouthfeel is good and the finish is medium in length. Overall, it’s a little simplistic, though we find it pleasant if slightly funky.
Nose (with water)
The swampy notes have receded, replaced by more savoury peanut notes, with a touch more spice. The wet cardboard note is now very prominent. The alcohol remains in good balance. There more citrus appearing as we sit with it replacing what peat that is here.
Palate (with water)
Water makes the finish hotter and shorter. The mouthfeel is reduced and it becomes more one-dimensional, leaning towards generic sweetness mixed with a hint of peat, though some might find it is easier to drink that it’s lost its funkiness. There is now also a slight dark chocolate bitterness appearing on that short finish.
Conclusion
A funkier dram that we’re sure will be divisive among drinkers, but one that can be enjoyed neat or with water depending on personal preference or mood. Personally for us this is a 6.5.
Score: 6.5/10
